History

The Chapel officially began Sunday morning, September 18, 1994. Although young, The Chapel is a branch office of an eternal program that God calls "The Church." Jesus promised His disciples that He would build His church, and the gates of hell could not unleash enough power to stop it.

Every believer and follower of Jesus Christ in the world today is inseparably linked to believers of past generations and to those who will become believers in future generations. Because of that, The Chapel is in partnership, not in competition, with any other church or denomination.

Some of the best advice we have been given is, "If you do what is right for the kingdom of God, things at The Chapel will take care of themselves."

We serve the same Lord, and He has given us the same mission. In fact, we are indebted to many churches that directly or indirectly gave birth to The Chapel. Everyone that came to The Chapel equipped to serve, teach, and lead gained his/her training in another church. Several churches, upon learning of the plans for The Chapel, called and sent letters with encouragement. Many churches made their facilities available for weddings, funerals, and fellowship events in our early days when we were without a building.

The Chapel is purposely a non-denominational church. We believe that each church and each denomination possesses its unique strengths. The Chapel draws upon a broad spectrum of contributions from a variety of backgrounds. The main reason The Chapel is non-denominational is so that it might have the most inclusive appeal to anyone who is considering investigating faith in Jesus Christ and exploring a church.

While The Chapel is an independent church, having no formal or legal ties to any other church or denomination, we are strongly committed to partnership with other churches in Fort Wayne, across our nation, and around the world.
